

TEAR GAS/PEPPER SPRAY:
What is it? A fine powder that can be converted into a spray, which adheres to moisture. The chemical targets the receptor which sends pain signals to the nervous system, resulting in pain, confusion, and disorientation. It irritates airways, causing your chest to tighten and making it difficult to breathe.

DON'T wear contact lenses

DON'T use oils/lotions- they trap chemicals in skin
IF EXPOSED

Breathe slowly to reduce irritation

Get to a ventilated area

DO NOT rub your eyes

Flush with water instead and tilt the head sideways when flushing one eye at a time
RUBBER BULLETS:
Rubber bullets, referred to as kinetic impact projectiles (KIPs) are made from a variety of materials including rubber, polyvinyl chloride, plastic or a composite including metal. Their use is intended to produce contusions (bruises), abrasions (scrapes), and hematomas (swelling). It causes pain to temporarily stop a person from engaging in whatever they were doing.

If possible, secure a hard shield around the eye to prevent further injury, such as a styrofoam cup or sunglasses
